2010 : Looking back

2010 was an eventful year for me..financially there were a couple of big decisions I made which would impact the next 2-5 years of my Life, to say the least.

Of financial Nature:
#1:
Under persistent pressure from my family, I gave into their desires and signed on the dotted line...
Hollaa...I booked a Flat worth more than ***** times the annual compensation
of a respectable PL. Thia was in February this year. Its a township and I will be "delivered" the 15 floor flat after 2 and a half years!!!
However, ther is something I did to my liking:

I booked it on 11th Floor, hill view. Sweet!

Not sure how I would manage the Loan though. Any ideas, Brutus?

#2.
I did something which was due for 2 years now.
I booked a 4 wheeler right before the finish line of 2010. In December end.
That scraps off my half year's compensation roughly.
But its worth it I guess.

The car is eye popping ...absolute Looker and grey.
Will get it by end of Jan 2011.

Not sure how I will pay for this as well!

#3.
I purchased some neat Cane Furniture for Bedroom.

I think I got a great deal from a roadside vendor.
Its for less than a decade of INRs and slightly more than Pancham Da's number!

#4
Tricked into purchasing useless MFs by my a Banker who was assigned to my case
by her supervisor. Also bought some long term bonds for tax savings.
Thanks Pranav Da for Infra Bonds.I am sure he can mange a few more of such
premises for tax exemption in 2011.

..I will stop before I further elaborate on many other conquests of Big Bazaar and D Marts which I managed in my weekly forays.

#5:
Lost substantial amount in equities.
Though I am still invested in them but the stock instrument is stuck like an FD.

Non Financial - Professional events:
#1.
Ahem.. I have managed a Visa for a country which is generally considered comparatively difficulty to acquire.
Its basically a work permit for a couple of years in the country.
It gives anyone freedom to seek employment after arrival.
Can't get the damn office to reimburse it though.

Might put it to some use later.

#2: Gymming: Did make use of official time and facilities. He He.

Things which should have reached a closure albeit they didn't:
#1: ******** ...ahem.
#2: GMAT : Didn't take this year.Should have.
#3: Fine Arts/ and Photography: Avenues that have been on the periphery far too long.
#4:On Air and Under/Over water Antics: Still planning!
#5:Goa, Rishikesh,Kerala and Laddakh: Someday.Someway.Together.. MLTR comes alive.

That's it folks! Will jot down 2011 plans sooner than later.
Cheers.

Monthly Expenses - Bachelor

Am a Bachelor although inching closer to 30 now and have decided since last 2 years to splurge and live a more comfortable life than I am used to, before the sun sets on Singlehood.

Following figures are my contributions every month on various expenses:
Shared Rent(my contribution): 6500 (1bhk near Adlabs)
DTH plus Internet plus Cell Bill: 1500
Brunch plus Dinner : 6000 ( Parcelled food at nite )
SPIRITS in house: 2000 (Beer/Scotch)
Toiletries’: 1000
Bijli plus Paper Bill plus Bail: 1000 (Don't have AC/Refrigerator)
Adhocs: 1000 (Walk to Office/Hotels)

Basic Totals: 19000 (Damn !###&&&)

This figure would be closer to 12K for regular Bachelor.

Have been visiting Royal Orchid with friends frequently and Westin Off late. That is knocking off about 4k on an average every month.

Totals including Outings: 23k

This figure obviously does not consider EMIs/clothes/Instinctive Purchases etc. which most of us are committed to.

Stupid Mondays are no Fundays...

Fuckin Monday blues....
Came to Office at 2 .15, late by 2.25 hours... and no one to barge on my head for it.Thats the only thing good that happened.

Codede a new Programme in COBOL-CICS for editing a ADABAS file.
A previous version of this Programme is a hit with Client for an Online Project which displays Cutomer Non-Billed data in the Client's website.
This new version is for similar functionality, but in another platform.

Did not have much enthusiasm to write it but somehow managed to code it in full by evening.

When I tried to compile the damn thing, the bloody TSO went into some kind of obnoxious loop and threw a blank screen. The Environmental manager tells me its due to an upgrade they have done via IBM which is corrupting the Compile job for some of the Users!!!!
can't see my Output......Fuck this day.

Fuckin Mondays

Movies which connect 01: American Psycho

American Psycho:
This film has something which inexplicably I connect to and have watched about 5 times.

Its the story about a young Wall Street Banker (investment Banker ...ehm) who morphs into chick slayer by night and looks around New York for sluts/easy blondes he can seduce and kill using uncommon methods... via manual axe/automated saw (used in lumbering and trapping in Canada) and such other stunts
He exercises with Texas Chainsaw murder scene playing in the background!

There is something so fuckin good about Patrick Bateman that I cannot but appreciate the lust he has for things which ordinarily may some heinous
but wickedly enough, I find them as a great work of abstract art, free from boundaries of society and completely savage.
Savagery is reprehensible for sure but is intrinsically looks good here.. "murders and executions"

It brings to the forefront what a man was meant to be...
hunt...kill... eat...fuck...sleep...hunt...kill...

The characterization is almost poetic, and surely the book by Bret Easton Ellis would be a amazing as well. In the hands of female director Mary Harron, Christian Bale takes the Protagonist's absolute numbing performance to epic proportions.

Starting from the opening scene where red berry sauce and blood seem juxtaposed on a plate ...the film establishes its intention and class and sticks to it till the end.

Bateman's apartment looks to be an extension of his personality..
Stark... black/white/grey..... purposeful.....straightforward, no-nonsense, and dead like.Looked to me to be designed by Howard Roark, of all the people.

The early scene where Bateman's friends look at each other's cards and Bateman suddenly become psychotic is so fuckin humorous that I ROFLOL every time.
And I love the name Dorsia.... not sure if there is any Hotel with that name in Pune though. Would have loved it.

Tired of eulogising the movie... its poetry in motion... watch it before you die.

House Extrapolated!

Posting some insight on Apartment purchasing power of Pune Techies.
Its however my personal opinion.
Dono if it augers well with others though.Anyways, here it goes:

Assuming 5 times of Gross income is Eligible Loan Amount,
I have created this table which is as follows:
Type.......... AgeGroup.......Workex in Yrs.......AnnualGross.......Max Loan Amount*
Fresher........22/23.................0-1......... 2.0 - 2.5........... 12
Programmer.....23-26................ 1-3..........2.5 - 3.5........... 17
Sr. Programmer.26-27................ 3-4..........3.5 - 4.5........... 22
TL.............27-29................ 4-6......... 4.5 - 6.5........... 32
PL/GL/Asst Mgr 29-30.................6-7......... 6.5 - 8.0........... 40
Project Mgr....30-33.................7-10........ 8.0 - 11............. 55
Sr Mgr/ DM.... 33-36.............. . 10-13........11 - 15.............. 75
Note that
#1. Salaries mentioned above are gross not CTC which is funny and useless number.
32. Salaries above may not be applicable for bluechips like Credit Suisse/JD etc.
Now, for derivations from this table:
A 2bhk at 35L, one has to be close to 30 agegroup to buy or has to have done a Onsite .
If Pune has 1 Lac IT plus Auto Pros ( max 25% of total ) and
50 percent can't afford. in current setup,
20-25 percent have bought 1 home atleast,
20-25 percent probably looking at oppurtunity to buy.
This prospective buyer population will be about 20K-25K max!!
Assuming a 12 storey, 4 flats per floor, a building has at max 50 apartments. For a moderate 5 building society, total number of Professional required would be 250 (50*5) , 1 per family supposedly.
If Pune has 25K Professional (IT plus Auto) looking for flats, then max 100-120 such societies should be enough for 2-3 yrs.
Anything more, there are investors who have bought won't be able to sell off easily.!!!!
Thats my extrapolation.

The Plunge

Well,

Its 12 March today and having deliberated my thoughts over a couple of weeks now, it is imperative that something tangible does get harnessed out of weeks of Insomniac madness and awakenings.

What in the world am I writing!!

Its 2am and the day has just started.

As a cloud of desperation engulfs my thought process and procastrination messes up my sleep day in day out, I think it is time for me to finally decide what in the world ( sorry for the repeated of this word…just marketing my blog ..eh! ) am I going to do about this sick feeling I get whenever I have nothing much to dwell onto in my office.

I haven’t really done anything to redeem myself in my eyses since then.

Horses for cources it shall be, Trojon!! Impossible is often the untried.

amen.

Night Watch

Have developed this queer habit of being awake every night.... goning through IREF/Youtube/PG/ShareKhan not necessarily in that order.
Have high regards for people who wake early and want to be one
who wakes early as well but don't want to sleep to reach there.
He he..... that a very typical trait of mine.
Phal ki aasha ... w/o beej ropan and seva.

Have a great regard for a particular thread on PG called
'All I wanted tomspeak about CAT'.
Infact have a personal copy with my name in PDF , thanks to kind sould at PG.
Wonderfull forum.
Absolutely a boon for people preparing for the most difficult exam in the world.
Its is more relevant for those working in sylos and not in contact with similar mba aspirant junta.

Took a break in the last two years though. In 2008, I went onsite and hence missed CAT though I came back in October but had missed submitting the Application form.
In 2009, was simply not motivated enough for for billi - chuhaa daud khel.

I slept at 815am yesterday, woke in the afternoon at 1.20 pm and then rushed to Office.
Forgot to pick my cellphone though.

I hope to sleep early today or directly tomorrow.
Its 4.13 right now. Feel like having some good coffee. Ramu kaka ko bulaao!!

Have a large conversion project going Live tomorrow in Office
where I have been pretty much involved and lead from Offshore side.
So may have to keep awake tomorrow as well.
But in office.
Damn.

Hope it goes live without hitches.
Amen!!

Office Politics

There is an undercurrent of tension in Office. A Lead who is colleague of mine has a minor uprising in his team, though its not really because of any actions of mine.
Though I must say I don't exactly mind the theatrics on the floor.
*********************************
A Supervisor, at the fag end of his carrier is someone who shouldn't be doing what his
portfolio suggests- managing people and projects...
He likes to pick a fight everyday, not literally but figuratively, with any and everyone who
thinks the Supervisor is useless.
I don't blame those guys actually.

He slightly is!
But at his ***, irrespective of
his exposure,
its very much expected.
God bless!
